Littleton Willow Tree

Littleton Cricket Club was originally formed in 1919. After being disbanded, it was reformed in 1961 as the YMCA (Red Triangle) club, before again becoming Littleton Cricket Club. The club has always considered itself a village team primarily aimed at providing cricket for pleasure, and as a bonus also winning matches! In fact the Club did not start competing at league level until 1974 when a team was entered in the South West Hampshire League Division 2.

During the year 2000, the club entered into a merger with West Hill, another long established side in Winchester, to create a new club.

'There are two Saturday sides playing in the Hampshire League, the first eleven who play in Regional 1 North, and the second eleven who play in the Regional 3, North East Division. The Sunday side is known as Littleton Willow Tree and is run by the landlord of the Willow Tree, an ex-parishioner who is a cricket fanatic.

The Club has two teams in the Winchester Indoor League which is run on Sunday evenings between October and April at the River Park Leisure Centre, Winchester.

The ultimate aim of the Club is to provide friendly, sociable cricket, hopefully with a high level of success, and allow members of the Parish to play the game, either at a high level, or just to enjoy a relaxing friendly fixture. We are very lucky to have superb facilities which we are able to maintain through the assistance of Littleton Sports Club and the active support of Littleton & Harestock Parish Council.

Should you wish to join the club as a playing member, an associate member where you can use the bar facilities, arrange a fixture, or you have a general enquiry, do not hesitate to contact one of the officers:

Membership Secretary: Vivien Aspin,  01962-880419

The club was founded in 1921. It has 6 well-maintained macadam courts for members' use and shares the Pavilion with the other sports clubs using the Recreation Ground. The club has a membership of over 200 adult and junior members at all levels of ability, from beginners to league standard players.

On two courts there is floodlighting  so bad light need not stop play.

The club runs 12 competitive league teams participating in local leagues all the year round. Also the club organises friendly matches, club tournaments, mix-in afternoons and evenings, and coaching can be arranged if there is sufficient demand. Throughout the year a variety of social events such as barbecues, quiz nights and skittle evenings are held.

Various membership categories exist, but briefly there is a one-off joining fee of £16, a yearly membership fee, including LTA fees, of £50 plus an out-of-parish fee, where applicable, of £3. Junior membership is approximately half the above.
